Having grown up on a farm and loving nature, I have a passion for natural products.
This is the main reason why I originally entered the leather trade. Over the years I have witnessed how well our leather furniture are complimented by wood, which prompted me to start an exclusive range of Blackwood furniture.
First and foremost, all the blackwood that we use is sustainably harvested from the Knysna forests, and not from any illegal bushclearing exercise somewhere in Africa or Indonesia that adds to the world's environmental problems. (Interestingly enough, Blackwood is an introduced species, and since it grows faster than most of the indigenous hardwoods in the forest, it is managed very carefully by the authorities and is harvested regularly to avoid upsetting the natural balance in the forest).
The designs are contemporary, but the wood is treated in such a way that it still looks raw and shows knots and scars - almost as if you are sitting on the live tree! Our Blackwood range is a must for anyone wanting a natural look in their house, but without feeling guilty about its impact on the environment.
